The Festive Senate of the National University of Arts, Bucharest convened to celebrate 150 Years since the establishment of the institution

On the occasion of the celebration of 150 years of existence, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 starting at 11.00 a Festive Senate of the National University of Arts in Bucharest was held at the National Museum of Art, attended by distinguished guests, first order personalities of the Romanian political, artistic and cultural scene, rectors of other universities, former and current professors and students of the university.
 

Senate works were led by Professor Catalin Balescu Ph.D., President of the University and by Professor Cristian Robert Velescu Ph.D., President of the Senate. Opening the Senate Professor Catalin Balescu Ph.D., President of the University read a letter addressed on the occasion of the event by the President of Romania, Mr. Traian Basescu who granted to the University, the order "Educational Merit" in rank of "Grand Officer". Speeches followed by Mr. Remus Pricopie , Minister of Education, who sent a message of greeting from Mr. Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Mr. Mihnea Costoiu, Minister of Research and Higher Education, Ecaterina Andronescu, Chairman of the Board of Education, Science, Youth and Sport of the Senate, which awarded a Diploma of Excellence on behalf of the Senate, Mr. Bogdan Olteanu, Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Romania, Mr. Razvan Theodorescu, Academician, Chairman of the department of Arts, Architecture and Audiovisual of the Romanian Academy, Mr. Dinu Giurescu, Academician, Mrs. Adina Nanu, former professor of the University, Mr Stefan Caltia, former professor of the University, Mr. Marin Gherasim, former professor of the University and Mr. Adrian Silvan Ionescu, Director of the Institute of Art History.
 

On the occasion of the anniversary ceremony the Minister of Education Mr. Remus Pricopie and the Minister of Research and Higher Education Mr. Mihnea Costoiu awarded the anniversary distinction "Spiru Haret" to the National University of Arts in Bucharest on behalf of the Ministry of Education while Mr. Vice-Governor Bogdan Olteanu launched an anniversary medal made ​​for the occasion by the National Bank of Romania. Distinctions were also awarded to the National University of Arts, Bucharest from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and the Romanian-American University. During the Senate works, the choir of the National University of Music, Bucharest interpreted music appropriate to the festivity.
