The Exhibition "Artistic education in Bucharest and Romanian art after 1950"

On the occasion of the Celebration of 150 Years of existence, the National University of Arts in Bucharest in partnership with the National Museum of Contemporary Art, opened on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at 19:30 pm, at the headquarters of the Museum from the Parliament House, Izvor Street No. 2-4 the exhibition "Artistic education in Bucharest and Romanian art after 1950".
At the exhibition opening speeches were held by Mr. Calin Dan, Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Professor Catalin Balescu Ph.D., President of the National University of Arts in Bucharest and Associate Professor Adrian Guta Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Art History and Theory who is also the exhibition curator. The event was attended by a record audience, around 4000 persons, among which first order personalities of the artistic and cultural scene, representatives of the diplomatic corp, former and current teachers and students of the university.
The exhbition includes nearly 150 artists, teachers and graduates of UNARTE and covers a broad creative period since the fiftieth until now.
The works come from the collections of the MNAC, UNARTE, Muzeul Municipiului Bucuresti and from private collections.
It provides the public some surprises by reintroducing some almost forget authors as well as works in rarely seen. This in addition to a selection of works considered iconic in the context of Romanian contemporary art.
The event is part of a series of events marking throughout the year, 150 Years since the establishment of the National University of Arts in Bucharest.
